Project Overview
SKCE provided full structural engineering design for the RivCott Cotton Gin in Carrathool, NSW, one of Australia’s most advanced cotton processing facilities. The project incorporated a 70 x 70-metre ginning shed with a 50-metre-span portal-framed superstructure, basement infrastructure, heavy processing machinery and office facilities.
The structural solution combined heavy-duty steel portal framing with ZEGO permanent formwork for the basement and office buildings, supporting a facility capable of processing more than 150,000 tonnes of cotton annually.

Value to the Client
SKCE delivered the structural engineering required to support the scale, heavy loads and specialised operational requirements of a major cotton processing facility.
The large-span portal structure created the open internal space required for ginning operations, while the basement was engineered to accommodate heavy machinery, conveyor tunnels and seed auger systems. The integration of steel framing, permanent formwork, foundations and non-combustible wall systems provided a robust structural solution designed around the facility’s intensive industrial use and significant processing capacity.
